Inside the Mind of a Musical Doll

Yay for December!

Now that it’s December, I can sing and play Christmas songs all I want without my roommates saying “JIREH IT’S NOT EVEN DECEMBER YET! STOP SINGING!” Yipee. So when I got to the dorm yesterday, I found the dorm decorated with lots of wrapping paper. It’s very pretty. We also have stockings and a nativity scene on top of the fireplace. It’s cool because the stockings match our personalities. I’m really excited for Christmas. Only 24 more days! and 11 days until school is over! =)

By the way. I just found out that I won’t be able to make it to Winter formal because of a conflict in schedules. Sorry everyone =(.

Getting Ready for Thanksgiving Break

My room is a total mess right now because I’m doing laundry and packing for Thanksgiving break back home in San Diego.

Ironwood was totally awesome. I learned so much from Mrs. Pryde and the food was great. I met some awesome new people, and I got to know my PBC sisters a little better. I’m really looking forward to the specifics conference in January. I bought some books there at like bargain prices and some CDs of her sessions. Most of the CDs I got dealt with teen issues. I’m actually thinking about working with teens in the future. If I’m gonna be a teacher, might as well right? 🙂

As for the drama. Well, it’s still there, but its getting better, now that the emotional wave of anger and disappointment has passed. We’re on speaking terms now, which is great because rumors are starting to get cleared up.

Sorry for not updating much. I miss you all and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you to all the veterans and those currently in the military for serving our country. I’m still proud to be an American despite…yeah

So, life is good now. No drama lately, although I’ve completely given up on my semester goals since I think I broke all of them 🙂 I’m looking forward to the basics conference in Ironwood next week. 4 days of nonstop lecture with Debi Pryde. Really, she has good insight on lots of things and I love learning from her. I’m also looking forward to Winter formal. They want me to play my violin again, but that’s ok because I love doing it 🙂 Well, I’m off to finish my 2 semester projects that are due this week…COFFEEEEEEEE!

One More Chance?

Twinkle told me I should watch this filipino movie called “One More Chance.” She says it’s exactly what’s going on in my life right now. 🙂

Anyway. Life is interesting right now. It is in fact like a dramatic soap opera. I guess most of it’s my fault, but hey, if I don’t deal with it, then who will? Besides, I can use this valueable time to learn more about myself and what I need to do to grow. Most importantly, I can use this time to grow closer to God.

The internet in the dorm and in the student center has been down for a while. Kind of a bummer. At least there’s the school wireless. 🙂

Please continue to pray for us. We need it.

A Busy Weekend

It all started on friday, being Andrew’s birthday. First we hung out at his house for a little bit. Then we went to the Santa Monica beach. After watching a beautiful sunset, we explored the carnival and the pier. The next day, I took CPR, AED, and First Aid Classes yesterday. It was fun, but long. We had a lot of fun memories. I am now certified to give cpr and administer first aid =). Today we had the Fuchs, missionaries to the Philipines. They were really cool people. Now here I am doing missions intensive homework. =)

Here’s a random quote for the night: Music is God’s gift to man, the only art of Heaven given to earth, and the only art of earth we can take to Heaven-Walter Salvage Landor

I took my first midterm today. I think I actually got a hundred on that one 🙂 I’m studying for 2 coming up in 6 hours. The worst is yet to come tomorrow. After that, it should be easy.

I’m doing well on my goals. My room is clean, my keys are still in place, and I haven’t pulled a real all-nighter =). I’m half way through the song and my grades are through the roof! (at least I think =) )

Please pray for ate Hannah. She’s in the hospital again.

A Much Needed ‘Vacation’

Since I didn’t blog last week, I’m gonna blog twice this week =).

I went to San Diego this last weekend because there were some “She’s-over-18-so-she-has-to-sign-and-you-can’t” kinda paperwork that I had to deal with A.S.A.P. In so doing-I got a much needed break from the monotony of school =). I got to catch up with my family and friends, I got some new clothes, and I got the music for my church’s orchestra so I don’t have to sight read during the cantata like last year:). The only downside to going home was there was no wireless internet. Oh well, you can’t have everything right?

Read Your Bible, Pray Every Day, and You’ll Grow Grow Grow

Sophomore year is tough, but I think I’m getting the hang of it. I honestly think I’m doing better than freshman year. I’ve learned so much not only academically, but also spiritually. D.J. preached tonight about growing in the Christian life. I liked his illustration about this guy’s experiment: pumping iron. He would only do his right hand and not exercise his left hand. Later down the road, the guy had a really buff right arm, but the left arm was weak and skinny. It was really weird. The point of this illustration is to show us that God looks at us that way when we only exercise one area of our spiritual life. For example, when we only focus on preaching, that part of our spiritual life will grow tremendously, but what about the soul-winning? What about the prayer life and personal devotions? If you only focus on a few of these areas and not all of them, your spiritual growth will be very disproportionate.

My Goals for the Semester Amendments

Amendment #1 To operate the dishwasher without assistance

Seriously, we have a weird dishwasher. It’s like portable and you have to plug it in and attach the nozzle to the sink and all that crazy stuff. And it like evaporates the water when it’s done. It’s weird I tell you. WEIRD!

Amendment #2 To perform and complete an inventory check for the P.B.C. Library

We have a ton of books that are in desperate need of attention (torn pages, disclaimer stickers, wrong location on shelf, etc.) We still have those 200 or so boxes of books that still need to be catalogued, but I don’t expect those to be done the 4 years I plan on working there. I’ve also made a list of some books that I would like in the Library, including all the sought after books on the book report list for the PY, LM, and HI classes.

Amendment #3 To know the location of my keys at all times

Enough said
